Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the correlation between universal values in sports, especially team sports. This research uses descriptive quantitative methods through analytical surveys. The population used was Central Java handball athletes, totaling 94 respondents consisting of 44 male athletes and 50 female athletes. Sampling used total sampling. The research variables are Central Java handball athletes as the dependent variable and universal values in sports as the independent variable. The data analysis technique uses the product-moment correlation test. The results of this research are: 1) handball athletes in Central Java have universal values in good sports. 2) The level of fair play among handball athletes in Central Java gets the lowest results. The conclusion of this research is that in sports there are universal values, which are one of the benchmarks for success in a sports game. In this study, which examined handball athletes in Central Java, there was a correlation between universal sports values and attitudes of fair play, problem solving, communication, teamwork, discipline, and leadership, obtaining good results with a coefficient r > 0.60. The lowest correlation value results from a fair-play attitude. However, the fair play value in this research is still included in the level of a good relationship
