If a person consumes a wide variety of foods, the possibility of experiencing a vitamin deficiency is very small. People on crash diets may not get enough of certain vitamins or</em> <em>minerals. For example, a very strict vegetarian may experience a deficiency of vitamin B12, which can only be obtained from foods of animal origin. Conversely, consuming large amounts of additional vitamins and minerals without medical supervision, can have harmful effects.</em></p> <p><em>The importance of vitamins in maintaining human health has received widespread attention from various groups, including scientists, researchers, medical practitioners, and the general public.
